Luxembourg's Prime Minister Xavier Bettel met with Pope Francis I on Thursday morning in a private audience at the Vatican.
During the talks the head of government spoke with the head of the Catholic Church about general political issues.
Mr Bettel took the opportunity to offer the Pontiff a gift: a book by Luxembourger Erny Gillen.
The author was until February 2015 Vicar General of the Catholic Church in Luxembourg. In the book, he calls for the disempowerment of the Roman Curia.
A few days prior to the Prime Minister's visit, Luxembourg Environment Minister Carole Dieschbourg was received by the Pope. The two discussed the Climate Change Conference in Paris, among other things.
