(CS) Grand Duchess Maria Teresa and Princess Tessy helped celebrate the 125th anniversary of the “École privée Marie Consolatrice” in Esch/Alzette on Saturday morning.

It was a rare joint outing for the Grand Duchess and her daughter-in-law. Marie-Teresa is more frequently accompanied by the Grand Duke, Prince Guillaume or Princess Stéphanie on official visits.

Princess Tessy is a former student of the school and seemed delighted to re-visit the classrooms and meet current students and teachers.

The school is a private all-girls “lycée technique” and was first set up by a the Sisters of Saint Elizabeth in Luxembourg in the 19th Century.

The day of celebrations also included a concert, featuring The Voice of Germany finalist and Luxembourg singer James Borges, as well as a BBQ and other activities.
