A police helicopter was attacked with a laser beam on Friday evening. Noone was injured, however.

The attack occurred when a helicopter flew over the Gare district in the capital at around 5:20pm.

According to police, the helicopter had been called in to search the area following a burglary.

It was thought the laser was shone into the cockpit from a balcony in Rue Glesener in order to disrupt the search.

The pilot reacted immediately to prevent being blinded by the laser and noone was injured in the incident.

As a reminder, under Luxembourg law, anyone caught pointing a laser at a helicopter or airplane may be sentenced to five to ten years in prison for "endangering the safety of a private or state aircraft."
