Police treat flat fire as arson

Police have launched a criminal investigation following the discovery of a dead body in a burnt-out flat in Esch-sur-Alzette.

The blaze broke out on the third floor of a property on the corner of 8 Place de Stalingrad and Rue du Viaduc, in the south of the country, at 1am on the night of December 19, 2014.

Once the blaze was extinguished, firefighters found the body of a 30-year-old man.

Police and prosecutors confirmed on Wednesday that the blaze is being treated as arson.

They would not provide any further details.
