Bettel's call for "truth" and a "functioning government"

Luxembourg Democratic Party's new chairman Xavier Bettel reveals his objectives for the party in a video interview with wort.lu, calling for greater transparency and a “functioning government.”

Among the revelations made by the opposition leader, who has also served as Luxembourg City mayor for the past year, he says he will step down as minister if the DP wins next year's parliamentary elections.

Mr Bettel says he has agreed to continue serving as mayor until 2017, a mission which he will not back down from. What he does hope to see during his time as party leader is more transparency.

"The population has a right to the truth, even if it is not always popular," he says.
