(HP) A neo-Nazi group is planning to protest outside the Rockhal on Saturday following a concert by German band Söhne Mannheims.

The group, called Kameradschaft Nationaler Widerstand Zweibrücken (NWZ), made the announcement on its Facebook page, saying it wanted to show "solidarity with Horst Mahler on the occasion of a performance of the Söhne Mannheims".

But the town of Esch-sur-Alzette has warned that it has not given authorisation for the protest -- named 'Marionettes put our people in chains: freedom for Horst Mahler' -- to be held.

A request for authorisation was sent to the town of Esch-sur-Alzette by email, but it was refused for "security reasons".

A town official said: "In addition to our obligation to guarantee the security and maintenance of public order, the town of Esch-sur-Alzette, which is a member of UNESCO's International Coalition of Cities against Racism, stresses that the subject of the manifestation is absolutely incompatible with the principles of the constitution of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the values of Luxembourg society as a whole."

The NWZ group reportedly wants to show support to the German Holocaust denier Horst Mahler, who, after his conviction for a prison sentence, fled to Hungary and applied for asylum as "political refugee".
