Carefree celebrations in the immediate vicinity of the Moselle River: thousands of wine lovers celebrated, danced and tried to solve the secret of the mysterious drink during the Picadilly celebrations.
On the site right by the Stadtbredimus sluice, the party was already in full swing with the after-work party during the early Friday evening. The tents were filled with thousands of party-goers who wanted to take part in the famous wine festival.
Many of them had come with one of the shuttle bus lines offered by the tourism office. While a lot of groups and clubs had organised bus transportation themselves.More picture galleries
Cover bands, a DJ and on Sunday a jazz quintet and the "Escher Staadmusek" are providing the musical entertainment. Last year, the "Foodtruck-Village" was a big success, which is why the organisers invited even more foodtrucks this time around.
The focal point of the festival was of course the "wine village," where far more choices were offered than just the eponymous drink with the secret recipe.
"In the wine village, 18 wines, mainly from Stadtbredimus, are served, including some exotic ones, which may surprise wine enthusiasts," said Stephanie Marx, vice president of the Stadtbredimus tourism office.
Sunday on the other hand will be completely alcohol-free for the "Family Day" which will be packed with animations, for example rides on a horse-drawn carriage.
As is the case every year, the organisers of the Picadilly brought out new glasses. This time the image of the famous Edmond de la Fontaine ("Dicks") reminded us of Luxembourg's famous poet.
Next to the tourism office, many associations and individuals from Stadtbredimus also helped organise the Picadilly. Without the volunteers, a celebration of this magnitude would not be possible, according to Marx.
