E-commerce giant Amazon is reportedly getting ready to start selling cars online in Europe, according to German weekly publication Automobilwoche.
The German publication cites Christoph Moeller, head of Amazon Europe's OEM (original equipment manufacturer) department as saying he has been put in charge of Amazon's new European operation.
Automobilwoche also cited Moeller, who used to be an automotive expert at advisory firm Oliver Wyman as saying Amazon has been hiring car sales executives.
Amazon is already present on the automotive market in Europe through the sale of spare auto parts.
Jeff Bezos' company plans to run this new business out of Luxembourg, where its European headquarters are located but reportedly chose the UK as a pilot market.
Amazon declined to comment on the matter.
