Fans of the Chinese landscape and culture will be able to explore more of this nation through an exclusive exhibition at the Abbaye de Neumunster.

A tranquil river, the Three Gorges dam, which opened on Tuesday, includes scores of images taken by Chinese photo journalist Zeng Nian.

Since the 1980s Nian has gathered a fascinating repertoire of images for a number of news agencies. Among his most famous were those taken during the construction of the Three Gorges dam, which is thought of have forced some 1.8 million people out of their homes.

This free exhibition, focuses on the lives of those who were displaced by the construction of what is considered the world's largest hydro-electric dam. Both beautiful and disturbing, the images show the tragic human sacrifices made by globalisation.

The exhibition is held in the Abbaye de Neumunster Cloister rooms, 28, rue Münster, the Grund, until September 19.
