The Bettembourg wallaby who wanted to be free

Photo: Police Grand Ducale

(RM) It was on Monday morning when a wallaby managed to escape from its enclosure at "Parc Merveilleux" in Bettembourg.

After a short adventure and romp in the snow, the little animal was found on Route de Mondorf  and captured before being returned to the fairy tale park a few hours later.

Wallabies are medium-sized kangaroos originating from Eastern Australia. The "Parc Merveilleux" is home to several of them, with thick fur protecting them against freezing temperatures.

The "Park Merveilleux" is currently closed for its winter break and will re-open towards the end of March.
