Screaming Fields final hits the Rockhal

Saturday saw the final  of the Screaming Fields school band contest reach its climax at the Rockhal

(ADW) It was an aptly named festival as in front of 'screaming' fans, the 11 bands that reached the finals of Screaming Fields 2012 took to the stage in a final battle for the impressive array of coveted prizes.

Indeed the festival, now in its third official year proved far more popular than previous editions attracting supporters from the schools the bands hailed from and the general public.

For several of the bands, this was not the first time they appeared in the contest and their progress over the years showed just how hardworking and seriously the youths take their music projects.

And their efforts paid off! All bands, several of them appearing for the first time ever on a big stage, not only had their supporters but were exposed to a new crowd and no doubt gained more fans.

Four prizes were on offer and went to four bands:

  • Prize for the best stage performance - won by Five Cent Cones
  • The “coup de coeur” or “instant love” award went to two acts: Acrylic and Tuys
  •  Prize for the most creative promotion went to Impact Hour
  • Prize for the best stage performance for their 2nd prize win went to Five Cent Cones
