(IRA) A list of the top private sector employers in Luxembourg reveals that the top three companies employing the highest number of workers remain ArcelorMittal (5,920), BGL BNP Paribas (4,110) and Cactus (3,920).

Numbers released by STATEC this week show that it is BIL that took the hardest hit in the last year, going from 3,640 employees down to 2,100. A fall explained by the separation of BIL and RDC Dexia that lead to a decrease of 1,580 in the number of people working for BIL.

Transport company CFL has stolen BIL's 4th spot, having gained 170 workers in the last year and currently employing 3,810 people.

Adding data from the public sector to the ranking would mean a completely different set of statistics, as the state is by far the largest employer (25,278).

The ranking covers 377 companies and business groups based in Luxembourg. The complete list is available on the STATEC website.
