(ADW) Funky P, a funk, soul, jazz band with pop elements, have got to be unique in Luxembourg. The produce a surprising sound to hail from the Grand Duchy, a very nice surprise at that.
The band has been around the block a few times with an impressive history. A creation by Marc Reichling the group’s bassist, they formed back in 2004 starting as a cover band before moving over to exclusively writing and playing their own material.
Since then they’ve played a whole host of concerts and festivals not only in Luxembourg but also in many other countries including representing Luxembourg in a Europe-wide festival “Popkomm” in Berlin.
They’ve not shied away from song releases either reaching number one in the Luxembourg charts in 2006 with “Smile Baby” which was also voted second best song of the year! “Real Love” and “Heaven is around the corner” both made it to number 2 in 2007. In 2009 the saw their next number 1 “Falling” and 2010 was the big release of their first entire album “Get The Funk”.
Since then the funksters have had their songs selected for international film soundtracks, including “Heaven is around the corner” being selected for the film “Desperate Endeavours”.
The band has played major festivals including Rock-A-Field and been the opening act for highbrow musicians such as Joe Cocker.
Funky P recently released two successful singles “Move Your Body” and “Funk-A-Mental” both in the usual catchy and funky style.
And right now, 'World is Burning' has just been released in Luxembourg and no doubt bound for the same single success as previous songs.
