Oldest man in Lux turns 109

Luxembourg's oldest man celebrates his birthday today, blowing out 109 candles.

Jean Ley was born on February 10, 1903, in Colmar-Berg, north of Luxembourg.

The centenarian is formerly of Ettelbruck but now lives at a retirement home in Vianden.

His late wife, Marie Weiler, died in 2000, aged 91. Mr Ley's only son is Nicolas Ley, former colonel in the Luxembourg army.
