Obama supporters in Luxembourg met on Friday for a group screening of the President's nomination acceptance speech.

Members of the Democrats Abroad watched the recording from Thursday's US National Democratic Convention when the president took the podium after a touching introduction by his wife, Michelle Obama.

Positioning himself as the “experienced candidate” in the US Presidential elections, taking place on November 6, he promised to lead the US to a "better place", before outlining his strategy for restoring the country's economy.

According to news agency Reuters, since the speech the current President and Democratic Presidential candidate widened what is a narrow lead against Republican candidate Mitt Romney, with 47 percent against 43 percent.

The Luxembourg Democrats Abroad group, which met at Bosso restaurant, helps to promote US voter registration abroad while informing US expatriates of policies which may affect them.
