Luxembourg Touch scores in Brussels with new kit

Luxembourg's national Touch rugby side showed it has come a long way after winning two out of five matches in a tournament.

The tournament hosted in Brussels was the second in the North Sea Touch Series and gave Luxembourg Touch RCL the chance to try out their new national kit for the first time.

Perhaps it was something in the design, but the mixed team showed real promise from the first game. The team notched up a 2-0 victory against the BluePrinters, with Touchdowns from Aurelien Bourdaa and Yumi Kato.

Next up were favourites Den Haag, whose pacey pack of Fijians and Samoans proved too speedy for Luxembourg, and thus beat the national side 7-0.

The third pool game saw Luxembourg face hosts and finalists Brussels Celtics in a closely fought game. While Luxembourg scored three times, thanks to Bedo, Mengès and Bourdaa, the Belgian team's combination of cleverly worked moves gave them the upper hand and a final score of 7-3.

Luxembourg was closely matched when they faced Cologne in the afternoon. Superbly marshalled by their female captain, the German side held on courageously for a 5-4 victory.

Finally, in a play-off for seventh and eighth place, Luxembourg won a 4-2 victory with Touchdowns from Myriam Kouao, Sweetnam, Bedo and Bourdaa.

The next and final round of the series takes place in Luxembourg on July 14 at the US Hostert Football Stadium, 1, rue du Rham, L-6991. Supporters are welcome.
