Luxembourg is to host its first European Touch rugby tournament on July 14, seeing 10 teams in a battle of speed, fitness and technique.
The tournament is the third and final stage in the North Sea Mixed Touch Series, with teams travelling from Den Haag, Amsterdam, Brussels and Cologne for a day of competitive sports.
Touch is a non-contact version of rugby, in which men, women and children can compete together. The fast-paced games ensure non-stop action as teams use tactics to avoid being touched while aiming to score touch downs.
That Luxembourg is hosting the tournament is all the more surprising given that Luxembourg Touch was only founded in 2010.
The club, a subsidiary of Rugby Club Luxembourg, has since participated in the Touch World Cup in 2011 and plans to take two teams to the European Championships in Treviso this September.
Saturday's tournament runs from 10am to 6pm at Stade Jos Becker US Hostert Football Club, 1, rue du Rham, Hostert, L-6991. As well as a chance to see some strong playing, there will also be an all-day bar for spectators.
Teams will then gather at The Tube, in Luxembourg City, for a post tournament party from 8pm.
