(CS) Luxembourg chef Jan Schneidewind hopes to score a “wild card” for the prestigious Bocuse d'Or, despite failing to make it to the finals of the European competition.
The Luxembourg committee has applied for the one remaining wild card after Schneidewind's elimination in the preliminary European stage of the prestigious cooking prize.
One of the two wild cards which the Bocuse d'Or awards every year went to Morocco this year. The remaining card could go to Schneidewind, if the Luxembourg committee's request is granted.
The bid is being supported by Tourism Minister Françoise Hetto-Gaasch and Economy Minister Etienne Schneider.
The finals of the Bocuse d'Or will take place in Lyon in 2013. Some 24 countries will be taking part, with 23 of them already decided.
