(ADW) The global exam results for Luxembourg students arrived on Monday morning and they are generally better for 2012 than last year! That is even taking into account that 3,521 candidates enrolled this year as opposed to 3,234 in 2011.

In secondary Classique education, the admission rate for the 2012 amounted to 79.6%, compared to 77.4% in 2011 showing a slight increase. The rate of “adjournments”, or students resitting a year, showed a slight decrease from last year: 13.3% in 2012 compared to 16% in 2011. However the failure rate (without possible resit) also increased slightly to 7.1% in 2012 compared to 6.6% in 2011.

In the Technique college system, the results remained more or less stable compared to 2011. The admission rate stood at 75.4% in 2012 compared to 75.9% in 2011. The adjournment rate rose to 17.5% from 14.9% in 2011. The failure rate however decreased to 7.1% in 2012 (9.3% in 2011).

Overall the results also showed that girls outperformed boys in both the Classique and Technique college systems.
