(ADW) The continuing debt crisis and alarming reports that ring out across Europe seem not to have toppled consumer confidence in the Grand Duchy, quite the opposite in fact. According to Luxembourg Central Bank BCL, confidence actually improved in July.
In all areas surveyed, Luxembourg consumers viewed their situation even more positively than in June. The Grand Duchy’s economic situation and personal financial statuses have been assessed as “better” for a second month in a row.
The evaluation of those in unemployment and their ability to accumulate savings, also improved after a deterioration in June.
Despite the positive feel of July consumer confidence in Luxembourg is still lower than the long-term average.
Of course this information released by BCL means little without figures to prop-up its findings. The central bank state that it will be releasing an official report complete with statistics next Monday.
