London Mayor Olympics zip wire stunt goes wrong

Boris Johnson left hanging over Victoria Park and had to be rescued

(ADW) London’s Mayor Boris Johnson has a reputation for being a bit wacky to say the least. The Olympics in London have certainly put him in the spotlight and shown the world just who is running the UK’s capital.

Now good old Boris performed a stunt over Victoria Park during the Olympic celebrations that kind of backfired!

Clutching two union jack flags, still in his suit and sporting a hard hat, Boris was supposed to swoop in over Victoria park on a zip line. Instead his journey came to an abrupt and rather inelegant ending as the line appeared to get stuck leaving him dangling over the amused crowds below.

"Get me a rope, get me a ladder, I think the brakes got stuck” he was heard to be shouting to bystanders.

Poor old Boris had to remain hanging six metres above the ground  for several minutes before being rescued.

When Prime Minister David Cameron heard of the incident he mused: "If any other politician anywhere in the world got stuck on a zip wire it would be a disaster. For Boris it's a triumph. He defies all forms of gravity."

The incident appeared to happen due to the wire the mayor hung from, sagging far too much in the middle and his momentum not being enough to carry him to the end.

“Oh London, I officially love your mayor” was one of the many comments under the YouTube video that’s already been viewed more than 72,800 times since its post on Tuesday.
