(ADW) It proved an exceptionally busy weekend for the Luxembourg City Tourist Office with two of their major events from the Summer In The City programme taking place. Saturday saw the MeYouZik world music festival while one of the most popular event’s LCTO’s calendar took place in Sunday: the 22nd edition of Rock um Knuedler with the voice of Supertramp, Roger Hodgson as headline act.
The contrast between an “old” legend of the music world dating back to the late 60s, and the 19 young local bands that filled the three stages during the festival, couldn’t have been more different, yet it all seemed to work perfectly.
It all began at 3pm when the first of the local acts took to the stages. The main “Lion” and “Horse” stages were located on Place Guillaume II, while a third stage was set up on Place Clairefontaine and despite the bleak weather in the early afternoon, the crowds were already forming.
Luxembourg acts Thoughts of the 4 , Anthem of the Sun and Andrea and Undercover began the day, each of them christening their respective stages. The day built up with the likes of The Gambling Badgers, Egil and the Elk, INBORN!, Angel At My Table, Open Seas, Lawyers Gun ‘n’ Money, Versus You, Vintage Gigolos and Daniel Balthasar among others performing to the swell of appreciative crowds.
And so the day came to its climax as the former lead singer and songwriter of Supertramp arrived on stage with his band and in front of a packed Place Guillaume II. He then proceeded to take Luxembourg on a tour through his memorable songs of yesteryear such as Breakfast in America, The Long Way Home, It's Raining Again, Give a Little bit and not forgetting the Logical Song!
