Motorists may have had a shock on Luxembourg's roads this morning when they were greeted by a new road user- a British policemen hitching a lift back to London.

But, not everything is as it seems. Indeed, the surreal sight was a marketing ploy, thought up by a low-cost flight website to promote London-Luxembourg flight connections.

The policeman-cum-hitchhiker was one of four who were dropped at locations around Luxembourg to promote Cheaptickets.lu.

The new platform has launched a series of tempting flight deals from Findel to London, just in time for the 2012 Olympic Games.

Cheaptickets.lu is a website, managed by Travix, which lets consumers search and book flights around the world at a fraction of the normal cost. In addition to flights, it searches for the most competitive deals on hotels, car rentals, train travel and all-inclusive holidays.
