Guillaume & Stéphanie say "I do" in civil marriage ceremony

(CS) Crown Prince Guillaume and Countess Stéphanie de Lannoy tied the knot in a civil ceremony on Friday afternoon.

The couple made their way to the town hall on foot from the Palais and were greeted by the crowds, waving flags and cheering the bride and groom. Several had brought presents which they gave to the pair.

Members of the Grand Ducal and de Lannoy families accompanied Guillaume and Stéphanie to the town hall, where mayor Xavier Bettel officiated the civil marriage ceremony.

The wedding party seemed in good spirits and the pair shared a few laughs with the mayor ahead of the ceremony.

Earlier in the day, Bettel had admitted that he had not quite finished preparing his wedding speech, saying he wants it to be spontaneous affair. He did, however, say at a reception in the morning that the pair was embarking on a "beautiful adventure."
