(CS) Luxembourg tennis player Gilles Muller was ousted from this year's Grand Slam at Wimbledon in the first round after losing to Frenchman Julien Benneteau.

Muller, currently number 53 in the world ranking, succumbed to Benneteau (ATP 32) in three sets (2:6, 5:7 and 6:7).

The Luxembourg player got off to a rocky start on court N°7. While he was able to recover some of his shape on Wimbledon's grass, Benneteau was nonetheless able to confidently turn the second set to his favour.

In the third set, Muller was able to draw at 5:5. At 6:5 he was unable, however, to win the set, and the game went into tie break, which Muller lost 7:4.

Ahead of the match Muller had shown himself confident, saying he could have ended up with a more difficult opponent to beat.

Last year, Muller was able to advance to the third round of the tournament, where he lost out against then number one player Rafael Nadal.
