(CS) Luxembourg City mayor Xavier Bettel has revealed more details on the civil wedding ceremony of Crown Prince Guillaume and Stéphanie, and the party that awaits the public on October 20.

Guillaume and Stéphanie will be the first couple of the Grand Ducal family to get married at Luxembourg City's town hall on October 19. Previously, the civil ceremony was officiated at the Palace.

It is expected that Guillaume and Stéphanie will walk from the Palais to the town hall on Place Guillaume II for the 3.30pm ceremony, giving royalty fans an ideal chance to get a glimpse of the pair.

Fireworks and free live concert on Saturday

There will not be a public viewing of the civil ceremony, but the 11am church service on October 20 will be broadcast live to screens on Place Guillaume.

In the evening, fireworks will be launched from the Dräi Eechelen in Kirchberg, and from 10pm celebrations continue with a free public concert on the Knuedler.

Belgian rising start Selah Sue will perform together with Luxembourg band FunkyP.

As is customary, the City of Luxembourg will give a gift to the newlyweds, and Guillaume and Stéphanie decided that the concert should be their present that they want to share with the people in Luxembourg on their special day.

Unlike the National Day festivities, there will be no stands and stalls lining Luxembourg's streets. However, bars and pubs in the capital will be granted a 3am late licence for the occasion.

The mayor also revealed that three television stations would be coming to the Grand Duchy to cover the wedding. It is known that German channel ZDF will broadcast from Luxembourg, as well as RTL TVI.

The TV vans will be parked at the bottom end of the Knuedler, however the City of Luxembourg is trying to ensure that they will cause as little disruption as possible so that as many people as possible will be able to party on the Place Guillaume.

With hotels seeing above average bookings for the season, the weekend may also prove a success for shopkeepers as shops will be open as usual on the Saturday.

The Place Guillaume market meanwhile will take place in Limpertsberg joining the Glacis market.
