(ADW) As reported on wort.lu, the English language platform supporting and promoting local music, FUZE Luxembourg, launched the first magazine last week together with the Luxemburger Wort and has now been distributed to several locations around Luxembourg.

So far the free mag has received extremely positive feedback triggering several offers of distribution to help spread the word.

One such offer came from Jean Fischbach who runs his own bike courier delivery service in Luxembourg City aptly named “Bikecourier”, and of course a keen local music fan.

Jean popped into wort.lu offices to collect the magazines, but before seeing him off with his load, he told us all about the services he offers: 

“It all started when I decided to take a year off after studying psychology. I currently work alone but have received many requests to join me, I hope more people will join soon” he said before going on to explain that the concept of a delivery service by bike around the City was dreamed up back in September 2011 and actually began life in February this year.

Jean offers his nifty bike courier service,  and a pedal-power only service he likes to point out, in and around Luxembourg  “apart from Cents because of the hill!” he grinned.

Several big companies already use bikecourier mostly because of the ecological aspect, such as law firms and banks. “Companies that want to reduce CO2 emissions and pollution don't need to change their delivery habits, they just have to change their courier” Jean stated.

But that’s not the only service provided as bikecourier also offers a “Pharmacy Service”. Jean will make home deliveries of medicines and other medical supplies, a service especially appreciated by the elderly.

“Luxembourg City is trying to get people on bikes and I'm doing my thing to help this” he explained.

But what about cycling safety in the City?  “Luxembourg is safe. For me safety is used as an excuse for not getting on a bike, it’s a question of confidence”. The bike Jean uses is a special fixed gear bike with a rubber chain, something he explained is actually an old system but a reliable one with long endurance.

“If people want to use bike courier they just give me a call or email and usually I can be there within 10-15 minutes”, and Jean was quick to point out:  “I’m faster than a car and ecological!”.
