(CS) Luxembourg City's Saint Nicolas market will open the Winterlights festival on November 26, closely followed by the annual Christmas market in Place d'Armes on November 30.
Some 100 chalets will be selling decorations, Christmas presents and of course food and drink, from traditional Luxembourgish “Gromperekichelcher” to mulled wine and other snack foods.
A big Christmas tree will be erected on Place d'Armes for the festive period and the City will shine in its usual holiday garb with lights and decorations bringing a sparkle to the long winter evenings.
Concerts will be taking place at the Place d'Armes gazebo and several other entertainment stalls will also be open.
Ferris wheel and carrousel rides at the Gëlle Fra
For the first time this year, the market will stretch to the Place de la Constitution where a 45 metre high Ferris wheel will offer a stunning view over the Pétrusse valley. There will also be a traditional carrousel and a magical train-ride awaits young and old.
Also at the Gëlle Fra, four chalets will be rented to individuals selling homemade arts and crafts and second-hand goods.
Additionally, in the Rue de Capucins a charity market with five chalets will see organisations selling goods, collecting money for a good cause.
- The Saint Nicolas market in Place de Paris will be open every day between November 26 and December 23, from 10.30am to 8pm.
