The royal visit to China in pictures

(CS) Luxembourg's Crown Prince Guillaume and Princess Stéphanie this week visited China as part of an economic mission to promote business ties between the Grand Duchy and the People's Republic.

The couple arrived in Beijing on December 16, where they met with Chinese Minister of Commerce Gao Hucheng, as well as the president of the People's Bank of China, Zhou Xiaochuan, and the chairman of the China Securities Regulatory Commission, Xiao Gang.

The following day, the couple and Economy Minister Etienne Schneider travelled onwards to Shanghai, where they met with a business delegation from Luxembourg, including representatives of 23 companies based in the Grand Duchy.

They also met the mayor of Shanghai Yang Xiong.

On December 18 the trip continued to Hangzhou, where there was time for some sight-seeing, such as boat trip on the West Lake. Also on the itinerary was a trade and economics seminar and meeting with members of the local business community.

Finally, on December 19, Guillaume and Stéphanie finished their journey with a trip to Wuxi City for further economic talks, but also a visit of a Buddhist palace.

There will not be much rest for the couple, who are expected for an official visit in Luxembourg City on Saturday.
