Luxembourg's Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria-Teresa along with son Prince Félix will attend the Vatican ceremony inaugurating the new pope next Tuesday.

In a press statement released by the Royal Court, it was announced that the three would travel to the Vatican in Italy for the ceremony taking place at 9.30am on March 19.

They will attend the mass celebrating his holiness Francis at the start of his ministry as leader of the Catholic Church.

Among other key figures attending the papal inauguration will be Crown Prince Willem-Alexander, Princess Máxima and Prime Minister Mark Rutte of the Netherlands, US Vice President Joe Biden and the Duke of Gloucester from Britain.

Pope Francis has reportedly advised followers from his native Argentina that they could donate money to charity rather than spend it to travel to Rome for his inauguration.
