As head of state, Grand Duke Henri rarely needs to handle cash. But, on Wednesday he was presented with some impressive pocket change in the form of a golden coin commemorating the country's 175th anniversary of independence.

The coin, which is worth 2,500 euros and made from Fairtrade gold, was produced by Luxembourg's Central Bank and features the profile of Grand Duke Henri on one side.

A metallic version of the commemorative coin was released on February 6, 2014, along with limited edition mounted collectible versions.

The golden version was presented to Grand Duke Henri by Luxembourg Central Bank President Gaston Reinesch and Director Serge Kolb.
