Electric vehicle producers Tesla Motors may open a dealership in Luxembourg, the Deputy Prime Minister has suggested.
Etienne Schneider hinted at the move during the inauguration of Luxembourg's first Tesla electric car charging station in Munsbach on Monday.
“I am confident that recharging stations are only the beginning and that the Californian firm will develop further activities in Luxembourg, notably by installing a dealership for their high-end electric vehicles,” the Deputy Prime Minister said.
The charging station on the site of the Hotel Légère can charge up to four vehicles at any one time. The service is free for Tesla vehicles.
Minister Schneider said that its installation in Luxembourg came around as a result of a strengthening of the relationship with Tesla during a mission to the US last year.
The minister said that between now and 2020, some 850 public electric car recharging stations will be rolled out across the country, in particular by P+R car parks.
